Common name:Zebra loach, Candy-stripe loach
Scientific name:Botia striata
Synonyms:(none)
Size:Around 2.5" (6cm) in aquaria, larger in the wild.
Origin:Southern India
Tank setup:Planted tank, preferably with sand substrate.
Compatibility:Usually peaceful in the community tank.
Temperature:23-26oC (73-79oF)
Water chemistry:Fairly soft to medium hard, slightly acidic to alkaline (pH 6.5-7.8)
Feeding:Omnivorous, will take most aquarium foods, supplement with live/frozen foods.
Sexing:Unknown
Breeding:Unknown
Comments: This fish has a reputation as a great snail eater, and will include snails in its diet. They are best kept as a small group which tends to make them more active, and can be kept with other peaceful loach species.
