Well after what seems like an age i finally finished setting up my Rio 400, well nearly finished
Tank in it's bare bones
With standard lights
Added Juwel internal Rock background
Side shot to show thickness
With standard lights (1xblue, 1xday & 2xnature)
Crushed coral substrate added
Plumbed in filters & heaters
Added rockwork
Added water
With 2 x day tubes on
With 2 x blue tubes on
Came back from the folks farm with 2 buckets of rock, but i don't think it's enough, i want to take it a bit higher without losing too much more swimming space for the Fronts. Been experimenting a bit with fake plants to try & hide the joints a bit on the background, just wanted to get it cycling first _________________ er....Mark

So am i AF, seems like an eternity
I couldn't find the rocks i was after at any lfs, plus it would've worked out quite expensive, so whilst i was down visiting the folks in Cornwall at the weekend i 'borrowed' some of my mum's future rockery (leftovers from a stone wall they had built) i left it soaking in water overnight & gave it a good scrubbing today. You could try building merchants or garden centres _________________ er....Mark

Great tank! Did you have to remove the internal filter yourself? _________________ Rio 400, 2 Oscars, Jag, Fire Eel, 5 Silver Dollars and 2 Pictus Catfish. |

Yeah, it was easier to remove than the one in my Rekord it's quite a big filter & i needed the extra room so it had to go _________________ er....Mark

Ok so you have several things that I want...one is your tank stand, two is your background (I can't believe you stole my background!) and three is the external filter...
What have you stuck the background in with by the way? _________________ Becky

When i ordered it from Seapets i thought i was getting the single bar, 2 tube model but they sent me the new High-lite model with 4 tubes

Sorry Becks the background is held on with silicone, i'd read a few stories about people not using enough & the tiles lifting when they have added water so i made sure i used plenty. The background seems to add more depth to it, if you do get them let me know because i still have the off cut (1/2 a tile) with you can have to save you buying the extra tile
